Fill The Boot Collections Begin At Alexandria Intersections
Alexandria Fire Department staff are collecting Fill the Boot donations at select intersections for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Drivers around Alexandria will see firefighters collecting donations at intersections beginning Friday.
Fill the Boot is an annual campaign by the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 2141 to raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Volunteers will collect donations from Aug. 23 to 31 at select intersections.
The locations for Fill the Boot are George Washington Parkway and Slaters Lane; Richmond Highway and East Glebe Road; King Street, Quaker Lane and Braddock Road; Van Dorn Street and Edsall Road; Washington Street and King Street; Duke Street, Patrick Street and Henry Street or Gibbon Street, Patrick Street and Henry Street, and Duke Street and Quaker Lane.

Donations may also be made online.
The donations will be collected by on-duty fire department staff, volunteer fire department staff and off-duty volunteers. Participating labor groups are the International Association of Fire Fighters, the Police Benevolent Association, Black Fire Service Professionals of Alexandria and the Alexandria Professional Medics Association.

Fill the Boot collections benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association's work to help families affected by muscular dystrophy, including research for new treatments, support for care centers and sending children to MDA summer camp. From 2009 to 2022, the Alexandria Fire Department's collections have raised over $350,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
