Former Congressman Jim Moran to Serve as Grand Marshal of George Washington Parade

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- Former Congressman James P. “Jim” Moran Jr. will serve as the grand marshal of this year’s George Washington Birthday Parade in Old Town Alexandria.

Moran, 70, served in Congress, representing the 8th District from 1991 to 2015, and is a member of the Democratic Party. Moran was the mayor of Alexandria from 1985 to 1990, when he resigned to run for Congress.
The parade this year takes place Monday, Feb. 15, from 1-3 p.m. The parade begins at Gibbon and Fairfax streets and ends at Wilkes and Royal streets.

Last year’s parade was canceled due to weather. The high temperature for Feb. 16, 2015 was 20 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
