Fourth Annual Rock & Stroll to End Homelessness Returns to Alexandria
Event takes place Saturday and includes race, live music, great eats and more.

The Fourth Annual Rock & Stroll to End Homelessness will take place this weekend from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in Alexandria, with the “stroll” taking place on Eisenhower Avenue and 600 Dulaney St., surrounding the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, and the festival taking place at John Carlyle Square Park, 300 John Carlyle Street in Alexandria.
On-site registration for the race Saturday begins at 7 a.m. You can also register online (deadline is tonight/Wednesday night, at midnight) or You will still be able to register at Port City Brewing Company packet pickup on Friday, or at the race on Saturday beginning at 7:00 a.m.
The nonprofit partner organizations that will benefit from the funds raised during the day include ALIVE! (ALexandrians InVolved Ecumenically), the Arlington-Alexandria Coalition for the Homeless (AACH), Community Lodgings, Good Shepherd Housing & Family Services, New Hope Housing and Wesley Housing.

The six nonprofits will come together to host the event, which includes a 10K/5K timed run, 1K fun run/walk as well as a festival of activities for all ages as a way to raise awareness and funds to support those at risk, according to a news release from organizers.

8 a.m. – Race start with Amos Desjardins, who recently ran 500 miles in Virginia to raise awareness for hunger and food insecurity, and Kristi King of WTOP. On Twitter @RunOnVeggies, @kingWTOP.

10 a.m. - After the run there will be a jam packed festival at John Carlyle Park Square with activities including the Run Awards presentation, Zumbathon featuring Zumba with Hilary, Hula Hoop Jam, Cornhole challenge, music, food, kids activities and fun.
10:30 a.m. - 11 a.m. – City of Alexandria Mayor William Euille, along with other city officials, will participate in the Cornhole Challenge along with WTOP personality Kristi King and WTOP Living Editor Rachel Nania. On Twitter@kingWTOP, @rnania, @WTOPLiving.
11 a.m. – Remarks from city officials and nonprofit organizations
1 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. - Zumbathon
Throughout the day: Live bands will rock the stage including Save the Arcadian, Cabin Creek, The Derds, and a Rock of Ages Youth Band.
Sweet Fire Donna’s, Whole Foods Old Town Alexandria and Alexandria Cupcake will offer tantalizing treats throughout the festival as well.

Day of registration for 10K/5K is $40. The 1K Fun Run/Walk is $15.
Festival is $15 per person or $25 for a family package that includes one adult and up to three children under the age of 12.
