Here's a breakdown of what is open and closed on Fourth of July in Alexandria.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — City of Alexandria government offices will be closed next Tuesday for Fourth of July, as well as libraries and schools. But services like public transit and recreation center will operate, although on a different schedule.

City Offices: closed

Animal shelter: The Vola Lawson Animal Shelter will be closed on Tuesday, July 4.
DASH and King Street Trolley: DASH bus service will operate on a Sunday schedule. The free King Street Trolley will operate on its normal schedule, every 10 to 15 minutes, between the King Street Metro Station and the Potomac River waterfront, from 10 a.m. to 10:15 p.m.
Emergency hotlines: All emergency hotlines operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, including the child protective services hotline at 703-746-5800; the domestic violence hotline at 703-746-4911; the emergency services for mental health or substance abuse crisis hotline at 703-746-3401; the adult protective services hotline at 703-746-5778; and the sexual assault hotline at 703-683-7273.
Health Facilities: The Alexandria Health Department (4480 King St.) and the Flora Krause Casey Health Center (1200 N. Howard St.) will be closed on July 3 and 4. The Teen Wellness Center at T.C. Williams High School (3329 King St.) will be open on July 3 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and closed on July 4.
Historic sites: Office of Historic Alexandria museums will be open regular hours on July 4. Fort Ward will be open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and the Historic Alexandria Store will be open from 11 a.m.-7 p.m.
Libraries: Closed. The Alexandria Law Library (520 King St.) will be closed on July 3 and 4.

Outdoor Pools: The Old Town and Memorial outdoor pools will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on July 4.
Parking: Police will not enforce parking restrictions at metered spaces, residential permit parking districts and other areas with posted parking time limits on July 4. It does not apply to permit parking in any location normally prohibited (parking zones, loading zones, or spaces for persons with disabilities). Temporary no-parking signs will be enforced.
Recreation and Arts Centers: The Chinquapin Park Recreation Center will be open from 6 a.m.-3 p.m., and the Charles Houston Recreation Center will be open from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. The Torpedo Factory Art Center and all other recreation and arts centers will be closed on July 4.
State Offices: The following Commonwealth of Virginia offices in Alexandria will be closed on July 3 and 4: Circuit Court, Clerk of Circuit Court, General District Court, Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court, and Court Service Unit located in the Alexandria Courthouse at 520 King St.; and the Department of Motor Vehicles on 2681 Mill Rd.
Trash and Recycling: Normal collections will occur on July 3, but there will be no collections on July 4. Collection services will be moved one day later for the rest of the week.
