Free Alexandria Wedding Up For Grabs At Wedding Showcase

ALEXANDRIA, VA—The Alexandria Wedding Showcase will return for a second year with more than 50 vendors, numerous giveaways and a grand prize of a free wedding. Those planning to tie the knot can attend on Sunday, Feb. 18 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at The Westin Alexandria, 400 Courthouse Square. Tickets are $20 online for one person or $15 each for two or more and $25 the day of the event.

The event will benefit Brides Across America, a national nonprofit that has assisted thousands of military couples since its inception in 2008, and now provides wedding gowns and entire weddings to both military and first responder couples nationwide. The event will give 20 military and first-responder brides a free wedding gown. In addition, $2 of every ticket sold will be donated to Brides Across America.

The top prize is a wedding for up to 100 guests at The Westin Alexandria valued at over $50,000. The prize includes ceremony space, reception space, a one hour pre-dinner cocktail reception, a plated dinner, lighting and draping throughout the reception space and two complimentary nights in the Presidential Suite. The wedding will come together with the help of local photography studio Sara Marcella Creative, Select Event Group, Velvet Moss Floral and Alexandria Pastry Shop.

Other prizes include a romantic weekend getaway in Alexandria and rental of the Virginia tourism bureau's gigantic LOVE letters. All attendees are eligible for the grand prize and other giveaways.

Couples can also explore the numerous vendors to help plan their big day. Vendors range from bakeries, caterers and boutiques to hotels, venues and photographers. The first 500 attendees will receive a Scout Bag from the Georgetown boutique.

Sponsors of this year's event are The Westin Alexandria, EastCoast Entertainment, Select Event Group and Republic National Distributing Company. Showcase committee members from Blackwall Hitch, Velvet Moss Floral, The Westin Alexandria, Sarah Marcella Creative and The Wharf & The Warehouse helped coordinate the event.
