Free Summer Meals For Students Offered By Alexandria Public Schools
Children can get free breakfast and lunch at select Alexandria school sites during part of the summer.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — As school ends for the summer, children facing food insecurity could have a harder time accessing food to fill their bellies. To help feed kids this summer, Alexandria City Public Schools will offer a free summer meal program.
The free breakfasts and lunches will be offered to children under 18 at six locations. The program runs Mondays to Thursdays from June 24 through July 18. There will not be meal service on July 4. Meals typically must be eaten on site.
"We want all families to know about the summer meals program in the City of Alexandria," said ACPS Office of School Nutrition Services Director Eric Coleman. "We want to support our children in Alexandria City during the summer months to stay healthy and ensure that students are receiving nutritious meals to be ready to learn in the new school year."

Patch has partnered with Feeding America since 2020 to help raise awareness in our local communities of hunger, a persistent national problem exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Feeding America, which supports 200 food banks and 60,000 local meals programs across the country, estimates that nearly 34 million people, including 9 million children — about 1 in 6 Americans — are living with food insecurity. This is a Patch social good project; Feeding America receives 100 percent of donations. Find out how you can donate in your community or find a food pantry near you.
