Fried Chicken And Beer Pop-Up Comes To Alexandria
The team behind Big Buns brings fried chicken sandwiches to the space below Hen Quarter on King Street.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Foodies looking for casual dining option with fried chicken sandwiches can find a new pop-up below Hen Quarter in Old Town Alexandria. The Rub Chicken & Beer is open on the first floor of 801 King Street, while Hen Quarter is on the second floor.
The Rub comes from the team behind Big Buns Damn Good Burger in Shirlington and Ballston. A few menu choices are the classic fried chicken sandwich with pickles called the Fricken Good, the Nashville Hot Chicken with Nashville hot sauce or the Barbecue Bird with Memphis barbecue sauce, fried onions, mustard coleslaw and pickles. If you want a taste of sweet, try the Krispy Chicken Collab on a doughnut bun with Carolina Reaper hot honey, or the Albert Egg'stein topped with a fried egg, bacon, pimento cheese, lettuce, pickles, tomato and apple butter.
Other fried chicken options are tenders, breasts, legs, thighs and wing. Side options include waffle fries with comeback sauce or cinnamon sugar ranch dipper, peño-cheddar hush puppies and Nutella pudding. Beer is available on tap, in bottles and in cans, while wine and cocktail options round out the drink menu.
