Gadsby's Tavern Museum Will Be Second Alexandria Museum To Reopen
The Office of Historic Alexandria has also reopened the Lyceum, but all other city museums remain closed until further notice.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Gadsby's Tavern Museum will reopen on Aug. 7, becoming the second Office of Historic Alexandria museum to reopen following coronavirus-related closures. The Alexandria History Museum at the Lyceum reopened on July 10. Other Historic Alexandria museums and all public programs are closed until further notice.
Initial hours at Gadsby's Tavern Museum are Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Like the Lyceum, Gadsby's Tavern Museum will operate at 25 percent capacity with timed tickets reserved in advance. Up to 10 people can be included in each group, and each party will be the only visitors arriving at that time. Visitors can tour the museum at their own pace.
Additional safety measures are in place during the pandemic. Visitors will also be asked to use hand sanitizer or wash hands upon arrival, follow one-way directions, maintain physical distancing, and refrain from touching exhibits. Staff and visitors must wear face coverings, although there are exceptions for children under 10 and people with health conditions that do not allow them to wear face coverings.
