Gas Prices At Four-Year High in DC, NoVA: Town-By-Town Comparison

Travelers will be paying the highest gas prices for Memorial Day since 2014. Here's a look at the towns with the highest and lowest prices.

Travelers will pay the most at the gas pump this Memorial Day weekend since 2014, according to AAA. Demand for gas, expensive crude oil and a shrinking global supply have contributed to the sharp increase during the busy holiday weekend.

On Thursday, the DC area gas price average reached $3.058, which is 21 cents more than last month. It's also a striking difference from $2.499 last year.

The average price in Virginia is a little better at $2.754. But these prices can't be found in the DC area. The highest prices are Alexandria ($2.979), Fairfax County ($2.976) and Arlington County ($2.975). Meanwhile the cheapest gas prices in Virginia can be found in Danville City ($2.546), Pittsylvania County ($2.574) and Henry County ($2.566).
