Alexandria Gas Station Leak Contained For Second Time
BREAKING: Alexandria fire officials say a gas station leak was repaired. A day later, a strong odor remains.

(Updated 9:17 p.m.) ALEXANDRIA, VA—Fire officials are investigating a strong gasoline odor coming from where a leak was repaired a day ago in Alexandria.
Dispatch reports show the Alexandria Fire Department began investigating in the 4300 block of King Street around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Officials say a leak at Liberty Gas Station (4368 King Street) was repaired Monday but the odor has persisted. As of 12:30 a.m., authorities say the leak has been fixed. Arlington County's hazmat team assisted.
Fire officials believe there is no hazard to the public at this time. An environmental consultant is on site working to locate and clean up spilled fuel.

Residents may notice the odor of gasoline and emergency vehicle activity in this area of King Street. As of 5 p.m., King Street is closed in both directions between Park Center Drive and N. Hampton Drive, and Ford Avenue is closed in both directions between N. Hampton Drive and Park Center Drive. Drivers should seek alternate routes.
