Grocery Store Run Leads To $100K Lottery Win For Alexandria Man

It's not often you'd get richer after buying groceries, but that was the case for this Alexandria man.

Running an errand for his girlfriend paid off for this Alexandria man. Kavin Lopez Gonzalez scored a top lottery prize of $100K while picking up groceries from the store.

Gonzales stopped at the Safeway, (7414 Little River Turnpike in Annandale), after getting a call from his girlfriend. On his way out, he used his change to buy a few lottery tickets. At home he scratched the tickets and learned he'd won $100,000 in the Virginia Lottery’s 10X the Money game.

"I just stared at it," he told lottery officials about his win. "It took me a minute to process that I’d won."
