The new North Old Town Harris Teeter will join several other Harris Teeter stores in the area including ones at Shirlington Village, Foxchase on Duke Street, Pentagon Row and Potomac Yard; the Potomac Yard location reopened last October after being closed for 18 months due to flood damage issues.

Residents in the area also have a nearby Safeway and Trader Joe’s to choose from.

In other area grocery store news, the Safeway being rebuilt for a reported $11 million at King Street and Quaker Lane in Alexandria is expected to open in early December.

An upgrade in place of the current Giant store at 425 E. Monroe Ave., has been much discussed; an ad for the location, by the owner of the property, notes that the building will become available in February 2016.
