Heroin Trafficker Pleads Guilty To Scheme In NoVA
Police caught the Mexican drug trafficker during a wild chase on the Beltway over the summer.

A man from Mexico pleaded guilty in Alexandria federal court for his role in drug trafficking in the Northern Virginia area over the summer.
According to court documents, Gilberto Paz Madrid, 33, came to Northern Virginia this June with one other person to distribute heroin and other drugs. He was working with co-conspirators in the DC area and Mexico.
In June, Virginia State Police tried to pull over a vehicle Madrid was driving on the Capital Beltway. He and a co-conspirator were in the car after paying thousands of dollars for what they thought were numerous bricks of illegal drugs. Madrid sped away from police, and his car struck several vehicles as he continue to evade officers. Police eventually caught up to the men and arrested them.

Madrid pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute one kilogram or more of heroin and attempted possession with intent to distribute one kilogram or more of heroin. He faces 10 years to life in prison when sentenced on Jan. 4, 2019.
