High-Speed Police Pursuit On 495 Ends In Crash In Alexandria Parking Lot

A Virginia State Police pursuit ended with 2 burning cars and a foot chase in Alexandria.

ALEXANDRIA, VA – A Virginia State Police pursuit early on Sunday morning ended in flames when the fleeing driver smashed into a parked car in Alexandria, according to reports.

According to the Alexandria Police Department and multiple reports, a driver is in custody, and no injuries were reported after a person fleeing Virginia State Police on I-495 led police on a chase into a parking lot, then ditched the car and fled on foot, leaving the vehicle to roll into another car and catch fire.

The chase began when a VSP trooper attempted to stop a speeding vehicle on I-495 westbound near Telegraph Road at around 12:57 a.m. Sunday, according to ALX Now and other reports. The driver refused to stop, instead continuing through the Mixing Bowl and on to 395 northbound. The driver took the Edsall Road exit and ultimately leapt out of the vehicle while it was still moving in an apartment complex parking lot. The suspect was caught after a foot chase, but the vehicle had rolled into another car and caught fire.
