Hooray For Books! Donates To Metropolitan School Of The Arts

Old Town Alexandria Bookstores Helps Support Local Black Box Theatre Project

HOORAY for Books! of Old Town Alexandria, Va. is giving back to Metropolitan School of the Arts (MSA), an Alexandria, Va. –based performing arts academy, by donating 20 percent of all book proceeds to MSA performing arts education from Tues, Apr. 19 to Thurs., April 21, located at 1555 King St., Alexandria, Va. “We are so grateful for this support and celebrate the importance of bringing together literature and the performing arts to our Alexandria community,” said Melissa Dobbs, founder and president of Metropolitan School of the Arts of Alexandria, Va.

HOORAY for Books will also host MSA’s Sleeping Beauty cast members on Wed., Apr. 20, during story hour from 5 p.m. to 7p.m. These young artists will showcase their beautiful costumes and join in the reading of Sleeping Beauty and other fairy tales. MSA’s youth ballet will perform Sleeping Beauty on Sun., May 1 at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. at The George Washington Masonic National Memorial Theatre in Alexandria, Va., at 101 Callahan Drive. All monies raised from HOORAY for Books! and MSA’s Sleeping Beauty ballet will go toward funding MSA’s first black-box theater; a local venue that can provide free performances to the Alexandria community.
