Inmate Dies In Alexandria Jail, Police Investigating Response
An inmate died after collapsing at the Alexandria jail Sunday, prompting a police investigation.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — An inmate at the Alexandria jail died after an apparent medical emergency Sunday, according to the Alexandria Sheriff's Office.
After 4 p.m., the sheriff's office said the inmate collapsed in the dayroom of a housing unit after a medical emergency. A deputy called for help from medical staff, and both attempted life-saving measures. The Alexandria Fire Department responded but pronounced the inmate dead around 4:56 p.m., officials said.
The inmate was identified as Glenn W. Eubanks III, 33, of Alexandria. He had been in jail since April 12.

According to Alexandria General District Court records, Eubanks faced charges of petit larceny, obscene sexual display and trespass after being forbidden in 2023. He was later charged with contempt of court charges related to insulting language directed to a judge and misbehavior in court.
He faced other past charges in Alexandria, including assault and battery, tampering with a vehicle and shoplifting in 2022.

Alexandria Police are investigating the death because it was in the custody of the Alexandria Sheriff's Office. The sheriff's office is also reviewing whether staff followed all of its policies.
