Interim Superintendent Selection In Alexandria Expected In Late July
Alexandria City Public Schools is moving forward with an interim superintendent search as Superintendent Gregory Hutchings Jr. will resign.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — As the resignation of Superintendent Gregory Hutchings takes effect later this summer, Alexandria's school district is searching for an interim superintendent.
Alexandria City Public Schools is moving forward with a search so an interim superintendent is appointed on July 28, according to the school district's website. Hutchings had announced he will resign effective Aug. 31, which is after the start of the 2022-2023 school year. The interim superintendent will be in place during the leadership transition in the new school year while a permanent superintendent search is underway.
The process kicks off with a survey being sent to school leaders Monday as well as leadership and community listening tours Monday through Thursday. On Thursday, a job listing for the interim superintendent will be posted. Applications will close July 8, and interviews will follow from July 18 to 21.

The Alexandria School Board will make an offer to the selected candidate on July 22, and approval of the interim superintendent selection and contract is expected on July 28.
