Students Go Back To Class At One Alexandria School (Photos)
While most Alexandria kids are soaking up another month of summer, one public school started Thursday.
ALEXANDRIA, VA—Most Alexandria schools start after Labor Day, so students have another month of summer. That's not the case at Samuel W. Tucker Elementary, a year-round neighborhood school in the Landmark neighborhood.
Unlike many traditional public schools, Tucker offers week-long breaks in the fall and spring. They end the year at the same time as other city schools in June. (For more information on this and other neighborhood stories, subscribe to Patch to receive daily newsletters and breaking news alerts.)
See how students are spending their first day in the gallery and videos below. Welcome back students!
