ALEXANDRIA, VA — Two Iraqi siblings have brought their dessert business to Alexandria's busy King and Washington Streets intersection.

Lily's Chocolate & Coffee is open at 631 King Street. This is the second location of the family-owned business, which debuted in Vienna in 2021. It is owned by Saif and Lily Alobaidi, siblings who immigrated to the U.S. from Iraq in 2009.

The business provides a taste of Iraq for those with a sweet tooth. Lily's specialty is a dessert called Lockma, an Iraqi fried pastry comes with a filling, chocolate topping, and garnish such as pistachio, Oreo or hazelnut. Customers may order Lockma in five pieces, eight pieces, 18 pieces or 30-piece box.
