skills, such as sharing, showing compassion for others, asking for help and making decisions.

Parents are also invited to attend “Open Houses” at all three Hopkins House Northern Virginia

locations next week.

“We want the community to become familiar with our high-quality preschool services while

highlighting the central role parents play in the early care and education of their children,” says

President and CEO J. Glenn Hopkins. “What really sets us apart is our staff. At the Hopkins

House Preschool Academy, not only does every teacher have a college degree, but each one

brings direct experience with children under the age of 5. Through this mix of education and

experience, our team is able to help all of our kids learn, grow and develop.”

The campaign will be rolled out successively over the next six months in the two additional

communities where Hopkins House academies are located: City of Alexandria and southeast

Fairfax County.

The Week of the Young Child™ is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association

for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the world's largest early childhood education

association. The purpose of this annual event is to focus public attention on the needs of young

children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that

meet those needs.

The Hopkins House Preschool Academy is a nonprofit organization that has continuously

operated since 1939. Its goal is to prepare "Young Scholars" for 21st-century achievement and

offers programs and activities focusing on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM);

critical thinking and problem solving, the arts and public health. The academies are accredited,

or in the process of seeking accreditation by the NAEYC, Virginia Quality Star Rated, and ranked

by Northern Virginia Magazine as one the top preschools in Northern Virginia. Scholarships and

other financial aid are available.
