Long-Term Parking Coming To Alexandria Amtrak Station

Those taking Amtrak and VRE from Alexandria will soon be able to park long term at the station.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Ever wished you could park at the Alexandria Station when you're taking Amtrak or Virginia Railway Express to go on a long trip? Well, soon that will be possible.

Starting Monday, Aug. 14, drivers can park at the station's parking lot on Callahan Drive longer than two hours. There will be metered parking options for short-term parking up to six hours or long-term parking up to 10 days. The short-term parking cost will be $2.50 per hour, or $15 for the full day. Drivers will be able to pay at the meter using their license plate number. This new option is part of a pilot program the City of Alexandria is trying out. Under this system, drivers will not need to display a parking receipt in their car.

The city approved the new parking program in June. City staff will review how the program is working over the next year.
