Lulu Sage Offers Styling, Beauty Services in Old Town

Cynthia Sage does all the hard work to help her business flourish, but her husband deserves credit for the name of her new salon and spa in Old Town.

“My husband started calling me Cindy Lu, and then it kind of got shortened to Lulu,” she said. “So my husband came up with the name.”

The result is , a new, full-service hair styling and beauty salon located at 610 Madison St. The salon opened Nov. 8 and is rapidly attracting new clients, said Sage, who owns the new business and formerly worked as a stylist in Lorton. Her dream was to open a salon of her own.

“I already had a client base of over 500 people, so they’re coming, and we’re getting walk-ins from the neighborhood, and word of mouth,” Sage said. “I know how long it takes, and sometimes how fast it can happen, and I’m actually surprised. It’s happened a little bit faster than I thought it would.”

Sage is a Michigan native who moved to Florida at age 21 and attended cosmetology school there. She moved to Northern Virginia after marrying her husband, Philip Khoury, who is a Fairfax County native.

The new salon offers full styling services, including coloring and highlighting, as well as manicures, pedicures, facials and waxing. And for Sage, the location is perfect.

“My husband and I really love Old Town,” she said. “So, we looked at a couple of other locations, and then we found that this place was available. And I fell in love with it. I like the fact that it’s not right on King Street – the parking is better for my clients.”

Lulu Sage Salon and Spa is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and until 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. Saturday hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and appointments are available on Sunday. The salon is closed on Mondays.

The salon offers product lines including Kerastase, J. Beverly Hills, Goldwell and Dermalogica.
