Man Brandishes BB Gun Near Restaurants in Old Town

Police were called late Wednesday night after witnesses saw man brandishing what appeared to be a "long gun."

The Alexandria Police Department was called late Wednesday night after witnesses saw a man brandishing a BB gun that appeared to be a “long gun,” police said in an alert.

Police investigated, after receiving a call about the man brandishing the gun, in the 800 block of S. Washington Street in Old Town Alexandria, shortly before midnight Wednesday night.

Police located the man, who was ”cited for realistic appearing BB gun,” police noted in their alert.

No firearm or airgun (BB) can be discharged within the City limits except by law enforcement officers in the performance of their duties, according to the Alexandria Police Department. For more information, call 703-838-4530.
