Man Wanted For Abduction Arrested After Police Chase

A man wanted on warrants for abduction and other crimes was arrested after a police chase involving Alexandria and Fairfax Co. police.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — A man wanted on warrants for abduction and other crimes was arrested Wednesday after a police chase involving Alexandria and Fairfax County police officers.

On January 13 at 3:53 p.m., officers tracked and located a man wanted for felony abduction to the area of Interstate 495 and Telegraph Road in Huntington. They attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver sped away and a chase began. As police pursued the vehicle, officers executed a maneuver to force the vehicle to spin out and stop. The suspect then fled on foot.

The driver of the vehicle, Flor Garcia, 43, of Alexandria, remained at the scene and was taken into custody, Fairfax County police said.

Fairfax 1, Virginia State Police, Alexandria Police Department, and patrol officers all searched for the suspect. Moments later, Fairfax police located Juan Arevalo, 46, of no fixed address, in a wooded area and he was taken into custody.

Arevalo was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he was served outstanding warrants for abduction, simple assault, petit larceny, failure to appear, and an assault warrant from another jurisdiction. He was also charged with obstruction of justice and held on no bond.

Garcia was charged with felony speed to elude and later released on a $2,000 bond.
