Medical Facility Expanding Into Previous Fuddruckers
Planning Commission OKs plan to expand dialysis clinic into entire space.

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- The Fuddruckers on Duke Street closed in 2013 and it’s likely residents were hoping another restaurant might open in the space.
But a medical clinic, Fresenius Medical Care, which treats dialysis patients, which was already operating in the back of the building, is expanding into the entire building, according to the City Planning Commission, which recently approved the expansion plan.
Plans calls for the entrance to the building, at 4141 Duke St., to be moved to the west side of the building and for hours to be from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

The plan next goes before the City Council on Jan. 23.
The full text of the City staff’s review of Fresenius’ request is available online. The City Council will hold a public hearing on Fresenius’ request (and other permit requests) this Saturday, January 23rd at 9:30am in City Hall room 2400. Those wishing to speak on the request can register online.
