Michelle Zelsman Named Weichert, Realtors Rookie Of The Year
Real estate sales associate named Rookie of the Year in Virginia

Michelle Zelsman, a sales associate at Weichert, Realtors’ Old Town Alexandria office, was recognized as Virginia’s Rookie of the Year at the company’s annual awards celebration held in McLean earlier this month. The prestigious Rookie of the Year award honors a first-year Weichert sales associate whose sales volume exceeded all other new associates in their first full year.
“I work with many outstanding sales associates at Weichert who give a great deal of themselves to help their clients live well,” said Zelsman. “To be singled out as the best in my first year at a profession I love is a great honor.”
Weichert Regional Vice President Mark Ackermann said, “I am very proud of Michelle, who has come into this business with the right mindset for selling real estate. She understands that serving her clients and sharing her expansive knowledge about Alexandria is her No. 1 priority. Being named Rookie of the Year is a high honor and indicative of her commitment and dedication to her clients.”

According to Zelsman, this award is a testament to the support and guidance she received from the organization’s leadership. “I have been fortunate to learn from Mark, who generously shares his knowledge. When I decided to leave a 25-year career in marketing and advertising to become a Realtor, knowing I could lean on Mark’s tremendous experience and counsel was instrumental in my first-year success,” she said.
Zelsman grew up in Northern Virginia and has been an Alexandria resident since the mid-80s. Prior to joining Weichert she enjoyed a successful career of more than 25 years in advertising, marketing and sales as a business owner, consultant and executive for organizations such as The World Bank, AOL, Save the Children and other non-profit organizations in Washington, D.C. Early in her career she was an accomplished journalist, who covered technology during the dot-com boom as well as military quality of life.
