Missing Alexandria Man Found Dead In Woods: Police

A family member had reported him missing when he didn't show up for work or church.

CENTREVILLE, VA—An Alexandria man reported missing was found dead in Centreville Sunday morning, according to Fairfax County Police.

A family member in Connecticut had reported Brian Murphy, 61, of Alexandria missing to the Hamden, Conn. Police Department on Oct. 24. Murphy had not shown up for church or work in Fairfax County for three days.

Fairfax County Police joined the search since Murphy was believed to be in the Centreville area. A search and rescue team found a body in the woods near Little Rocky Run around 9 a.m. Sunday. The body was tentatively identified as Murphy.

Police do not suspect foul play or believe there is a threat to public safety.

On Oct. 27, police had notified the public of the missing man, who was considered endangered.
