More Than 10K Lose Power Around Alexandria
Restoration efforts are underway after strong winds caused widespread power outages in Alexandria.

A nor'easter has hit the DC region in the form of a strong wind storm, leaving more than 10,000 Alexandria customers without power at one point and closing numerous city facilities. Alexandria and the region are under a high wind warning through 6 a.m. Saturday.
According to Dominion Energy, 10,288 have no power as of 1:55 p.m. The outages had been increasing throughout the morning and began to decline into the afternoon.
If your power goes out, report it to Dominion Virginia Power at 866-DOM-HELP 866-366-4357 or www.dom.com. For concerns about water water service, contact Virginia American Water at 800-452-6863.

According to the city, at least 19 traffic signals are out and four are flashing. Efforts are underway to install generators. Police say the wind has also flipped around several traffic lights. Drivers should treat intersections without power as four way stops and to not touch power lines.
City government and courts are open unless otherwise noted. Non-emergency personnel have the option of unscheduled leave or working from home with supervisor approval.
