'Murky Water' In Alexandria Caused By Water Main Break

A report of cloudy water in a stream was traced to a water main break Thursday, according to Alexandria city government.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — A water main break caused a report of murky water in Holmes Run within the City of Alexandria Thursday.

Alexandria's Transportation and Environmental Services had received a report of the murky water in Holmes Run. City staff traced the source to a water main break on North Paxton Street and Cloude’s Mill Drive.

Alexandria's water utility, Virginia American Water, is making repairs on site. During repairs, about 44 water customers and three fire hydrants will have little to no water pressure. In addition, Holmes Run may appear murky for the rest of the day.

One lane of traffic is closed in the repair area of North Paxton Street and Cloude’s Mill Drive. The estimated time for repair completion is six to eight hours.
