Old Town's Robinson Landing Hosting Autumn Music, Archaeology Events

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Robinson Landing, a waterfront community in Old Town Alexandria with restaurants and residences, is hosting music, crafts and other activities starting this week.

The events will be held on Robinson Landing’s promenade and pier and will include an archaeology event in partnership with the City of Alexandria’s Historic Alexandria/Alexandria Archaeology office.

The Waterfront Wednesday Music Series features local musicians. Residents are invited to bring a chair or simply stop by to enjoy the music. The concerts are free and run from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. each Wednesday:

On Saturday, Oct. 23, residents are invited to test their 18th-century engineering skills from noon to 2 p.m. It wasn’t easy for tall ships to reach Alexandria’s natural shoreline. New land was created in the 18th and 19th century to reach the deep water at the current site of Robinson Landing.

Archaeologists will also be on-site with information about the Archaeology at Robinson Landing and the evidence of land-making found there.

On Sunday, Oct. 24, residents can enjoy a Crafternoon at the pier at Robinson Landing from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. AR On Workshop Alexandria will be hosting a Chunky Knit Pumpkin Pop-Up Workshop. They will be on-site to guide guests step-by-step through their hand-knitting technique to make Chunky Knit Pumpkins.

The project requires no needles or knitting experience. All instructions, materials, yarn, and embellishments will be provided. This event is complimentary for the first 40 guests who register.
