Free Donuts in Alexandria for National Donut Day

Sugar Shack, Dunkin' Donuts and Krispy Kreme are participating. Here's the scoop on nabbing a free donut in the Alexandria area on Friday.

There are lots of options for a free donut on National Donut Day in Alexandria on Friday.

  • Sugar Shack: Locally owned Sugar Shack, located at 804 N. Henry St., is offering up this deal, according to this post on their Facebook page:

“Tomorrow is ‪#‎nationaldonutday‬. Help us spread the word by bringing in a friend: you both get a free donut if y’all both say ‪#‎Donuts4Good‬”

Sugar Shack opens its doors at 6 a.m., and closes at 10 p.m.

  • Dunkin’ Donuts: The national chain will commemorate the holiday by offering guests a free donut of their choice (while supplies last) with the purchase of any beverage. The offer is good all day Friday at participating Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants nationwide.

There are several Dunkin’ Donuts in the Alexandria area including 1640 King St., 3050 Duke St., 4653 Duke St. (Foxchase), and 3325 Jefferson Davis Hwy. (Potomac Yard).

The Dunkin’ Donut rules: You can choose any donut you’d like except for the Croissant Donuts and Cheesecake Squares.

  • Krispy Kreme: Go old-school Friday with a stop at Krispy Kreme at 6332 Richmond Highway, where you can watch hot donuts roll off the assembly line (or order from your car).

Here’s the scoop on scoring a donut at Krispy Kreme:

“Whether it’s powdered, filled or a hot Original Glazed®, stop in for a free doughnut from Krispy Kreme. In honor of National Doughnut Day, on Friday, June 5, stop in to any Krispy Kreme US or Canadian location for a FREE doughnut of any variety--including its world famous Original Glazed® doughnut.”

National Donut Day was originally established in 1938 by the Chicago Salvation Army to honor women who served donuts to soldiers during World War I. The holiday is traditionally celebrated on the first Friday of June.
