ALEXANDRIA, VA—An investment firm has acquired the former location of Restaurant Eve and wants to lease the space to a new restaurant. Bethesda, Maryland-based White Star Investments acquired the building at 110 South Pitt Street for $3.1 million.

The 9,000-square-foot building includes 4,200 square feet of space where Restaurant Eve was located, an outdoor patio courtyard area for the restaurant, an office and three residential units.

The firm is actively searching for a restaurant operator. Rueben Bajaj, a principal with White Star Investments, told Patch the ideal restaurant would be a homegrown one. "It would be an Alexandria operator just like Restaurant Eve was," said Bajaj. "That would be the first choice because we like the idea of homegrown."

Potential operators have expressed interest. Bajaj could not disclose who has shown interest but says one is an operator with several Alexandria restaurants. The other has one Alexandria restaurant.

Bajaj, who was a patron of Restaurant Eve, says, "I want something along that level in terms of quality and service."

There's no timeline for when the new restaurant operator would be chosen announced, as the firm wants to ensure the deal fits the area and makes sense financially.

"We want longevity, and we want to make sure we get it," said Bajaj. "We're not in any rush to lease this space to just anyone."

The acquisition is White Star Investments' first in Alexandria and its 11th commercial acquisition in the DC metropolitan area.

Restaurant Eve, a 14-year mainstay in Alexandria run by Chef Cathal Armstrong and his wife Meshelle, closed in June 2018.
