New Restaurant with Southern Twist Coming to King Street

Southern-immersion cuisine restaurant and lounge coming soon to Old Town.

Magnolia’s On King, a new restaurant featuring Southern cuisine, is expected to open soon in Old Town Alexandria. It will take the place of Olea, at 703 King St., which closed its doors on Sunday.

The space is undergoing renovation, will be adding live music in the future and is looking to hire for many positions.

A craigslist post notes that the restaurant is looking to hire sommeliers, captains, an assistant manager and a craft bartender.

The restaurants describes itself as a “New Southern Immersion Cuisine Restaurant and Lounge. The focus will be on farm to table, craft cocktails, craft beers and an international wine list with a selection of Virginia producers,” according to the owners.

The target opening date is mid-May.

The first floor of the restaurant will feature fine dining with the second floor playing host to a speakeasy-style bar and lounge. Each area will seat about 35.

The restaurant will kick off with dinner and brunch, and be closed Sunday nights and Mondays.
