ALEXANDRIA, VA — New York-style pizza by the slice is being served up in a new shop in Old Town Alexandria.

Handover by the Slice opened at 728 King Street below King’s Ransom cocktail bar. The concept comes from Alexandria residents Teddy Kim of Avanti Holdings Group, Ian McGrath of Alexandria Realty and Gregg Linzey of Chewish Deli. The space includes old school arcade games to offer customers a serving of nostalgia with their pizza.

Handover by the Slice specializes in pizza with dough and sauce made in house daily. Customers can order pizza by the slice, 18-inch whole pies, daily specialty pizza until sold out, appetizers, beer and wine.

"The pizza has a very thin layer of crunch at the bottom of the slice with a soft and airy crust," said Linzey.

The double concept of Handover and King's Ransom is in the former location of Eamonn's a Dublin Chipper and cocktail bar PX. Those concepts closed in July 2019. Handover and King's Ransom debuted in early 2020, but Hanover was originally a hand roll sushi concept.
