Days of heavy rain have caused the Potomac River to swell, and the rising water levels impacted waterfront areas such as Old Town Alexandria Tuesday.
Photos captured in Old Town Alexandria show just how severe that flooding is. In the images, floodwaters have overtaken the unit block of King Street and Union Street.

The areas of Alexandria near the Potomac River were under a coastal flood advisory through 5 p.m. Tuesday. National Weather Service forecasters warned water could approach the curb near the intersection of King Street and Strand Street in Alexandria. The flooding began even before high tide hit around 1:36 p.m.
Alexandria Police urged residents to use caution in low-lying areas and to not walk or drive through standing water.

Thankfully when the water cleared out, everything got back to normal in Old Town Alexandria. Here's an image taken Thursday in the area that was flooded at King and Union Streets:
