Opening Date Set for Old Town Alexandria Grocery Store

The new Harris Teeter at 735 St. Asaph St. in North Old Town will welcome the public to a grand opening on Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 5:30 p.m., according to Harris Teeter. The store opens for business the next day, Wednesday, Oct. 22.

The company is celebrating its grand opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 5:30 p.m. followed by a sampling event featuring Harris Teeter brand products.

The grocery store, which will be open 24/7, is located in the same building as The Kingsley, a new luxury apartment building that saw its first tenant move in recently, in June. The building features studios, one-bedrooms and two-bedrooms advertised from $1,850 for a studio, $2,085 for a one bedroom, and starting at $2,795 for a two-bedroom.

The store will have a pharmacy (open seven days a week), Express Lane Online Shopping and will be approximately 52,302 square feet. Pharmacy hours will be 9 a.m.–9 p.m. M-F; 9 a.m.–7 p.m., Sat.; noon–6 p.m. Sun.

The new North Old Town Harris Teeter will join several other Harris Teeter stores in the area including ones at Shirlington Village, Foxchase on Duke Street, Pentagon Row and Potomac Yard; the Potomac Yard location reopened last October after being closed for 18 months due to flood damage issues.

Residents in the area also have a nearby Safeway and Trader Joe’s to choose from.
