Pedestrian Struck By Vehicle, Killed In Alexandria: Report

Duke Street at Cameron Station Boulevard was shut down for several hours during the subsequent investigation.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — A pedestrian was killed on Sunday after being struck by a vehicle in Alexandria, according to police.

The incident took place around 7:52 a.m. at the Duke Street and Cameron Station Boulevard intersection in the Landmark area. Police believe the pedestrian was crossing Duke Street when a vehicle struck him. Alfredo DaSilva, 89, of Alexandria, died of his injuries on the scene.

The driver stayed on scene for the police investigation. Duke Street was shut down for several hours during the investigation.

The investigation is ongoing. Alexandria Police ask that witnesses with information to call Officer Jessica Johnson at 703-405-2787.

A petition to reduce the speed limit on Duke Street between Quaker Lane and Jordan Street from 35 mph to 25 mph is going around.
