Photos: Flooding Strikes Alexandria After Thunderstorm
BREAKING: Thursday's thunderstorms and rain throughout the week have flooded the Old Town Alexandria waterfront.

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- The weather has cleared up after thunderstorms rocked the area Thursday night, but flooding continues to affect the Old Town Alexandria waterfront.
Alexandria Police said on Twitter that standing water remains in low areas. High tide approached the area this morning, and low tide is expected before 5 p.m. Police remind drivers and pedestrians to not drive or walk in standing water.

The good news is Friday is expected to stay clear, but thunderstorms could return Saturday afternoon. The latest weekend forecast for Alexandria is:
Friday: Cloudy and sunny throughout the day with temperatures in the high 70s and 50s.

Saturday: Afternoon thunderstorms could be in the forecast with temperatures in the high 70s and low 60s. Chance of thunderstorms is 50 percent.
Sunday: Mostly cloudy with temperatures in the 70s and 60s.
Monday: Another chance of afternoon thunderstorms looms with temperatures rising to the 80s and 60s. Chance of thunderstorms is 50 percent.
