Alexandria Police Arrest Suspect in Four 2013 Auto Thefts

Thefts took place between August and December.

Alexandria Police have arrested Alvin Bell, 57, of Alexandria, in connection with four vehicles stolen in the City of Alexandria, and various other thefts, according to a news release.

Bell was charged with three counts of Grand Larceny Auto, two counts of Grand Larceny with Intent to Sell, and Grand Larceny. Police say Bell stole the vehicles between August and December 2013. Each of the vehicles was stolen when the keys were either left in a running vehicle or in an unlocked car.

The Alexandria Police Department reminds the public to take their keys and lock their vehicles whenever they exit their car, even if it is just for a short time. A car left running can be stolen in under a minute.

Anyone with additional information about this suspect is asked to call the Criminal Investigations Section of the Alexandria Police Department at (703) 746-6711.

Police did not give the street locations of the auto thefts.
