UPDATE: Suspects in Custody in Connection with Bank Robbery, Police Say
Incident Tuesday morning prompted "lock-in" at five Alexandria schools in the area — now lifted.

UPDATE: Alexandria Police have two suspects in custody in connection with an armed bank robbery Tuesday morning that prompted “lock ins” at five schools in the area.
That lock-in has been lifted.
Alexandria Police Department K9 officers and CSI are in the 2400 block of Mainline Boulevard conducting an article search for possible evidence:

The Alexandria Police Department is investigating a bank robbery Tuesday morning in the 800 block of N. Washington Street (see map below), according to an alert sent out by police at about 10:30 a.m.
Police say that two suspects brandished a weapon or weapons and stole cash. Police did not release a description of the suspects.
There were no injuries. Expect police activity in the area.
The incident Tuesday morning has prompted “lock-ins” of five Alexandria schools in the area: GW, Cora Kelly, Mount Vernon, Charles Barrett and Maury. Schools urge families not to call their children or the school during an emergency. ACPS will update when the situation has changed. No entry or exit from the school is allowed during the lock-ins.
