UPDATE: Police Investigating Shooting of Teen Friday Night at Apartment Complex

A teenager was shot in the upper body and taken to the hospital, police said.

The Alexandria Police Department is investigating a shooting of a teenager that occurred Friday night in the 1200 block of North Quaker Lane, they said in a news release Saturday afternoon.

At approximately 9:52 p.m., officers responded to an apartment complex for reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located the victim, a 17 year-old male City resident, suffering from a wound to the upper body. He was transported to a local hospital.

The victim’s injury was identified as a non life-threatening gunshot wound at the hospital. The investigation is ongoing.

Police did not release any information about a suspect in the shooting or say whether it might be connected to the theft of a handgun from the same area last week.

The Alexandria Police Department reports that a man was shot Friday night in the 1200 block of N. Quaker Lane in Alexandria, according to spokeswoman Crystal Nosal.

The man who was shot was taken to the hospital for an injury sustained to the upper body. Police say the injury is non-life threatening.

There is no description given yet of a suspect.

Police have not said if there is any possible connection to the shooting and a report of a handgun stolen last week from the same area.

Police reported that a handgun was stolen last Friday morning, July 17, from a car parked at a home in the 1200 block of N. Quaker Lane in Alexandria, according to the Alexandria Police Department. Police were contacted at 4:02 a.m.

The information about the burglary was posted on Raids Online, the Web site the City uses to get information about crime out to the public. Information on the site is provided by the police department.

According to the report, the victim said that someone stole her handgun from her vehicle parked in the lot at her residence.
