Police Resolve 9-Hour 'Barricade Incident' on Jamieson Avenue
Police were serving a warrant for a man who had allegedly violated a protective order; police say he is also facing other charges.

The Alexandria Police Department has arrested a subject involved in a barricade incident overnight in the 2100 block of Jamieson Avenue, near the Hoffman Town Center, according to a news release from police.
Alexandria Police officers attempted to serve a warrant at approximately 7 p.m. Sunday, police said. The suspect refused to open the door, according to police. While officers were speaking to the subject through the door, they heard the sound of a weapon from inside the residence, police said. They then secured the hallway and radioed for assistance.
Police asked residents near the apartment in question to shelter in their apartments until more police units arrived. Residents were later given the opportunity to evacuate before police operations were directed at the apartment. The suspect was taken into custody Monday shortly before 4 a.m.
