Portside In Old Town Summer Festival To Happen On June 22

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Add another summer festival to your lineup of summer activities in Alexandria. Visit Alexandria has announced details for the Portside in Old Town Summer Festival on Saturday, June 22 from 2 p.m.-8 p.m. at Waterfront Park.

The new festival will debut after a fall Portside in Old Town festival drew plenty of interest. The summer festival will focus on the global cultural influences that have resulted from Alexandria’s history as a port city. The event plans include a waterfront beer garden by Port City Brewing Company, musical performances, hands-on activities and food. Pizzeria Paradiso, Rocklands Barbecue and Dolci Gelati will have pop-ups.

Hands-on activities will include:

• Office of Historic Alexandria: Activities emphasizing Alexandria's port city history
• The Art League: Artist-led make-n-take visual arts activity
• School of Rock Alexandria: Instrument petting zoo
• NOVA Pride and Safe Space NOVA: Jewelry making and bubbles
• Mirror Mirror public art exhibit
• Lawn games

The lineup of musical performances will be emceed by Vaughn and Robyn Ambrose, Alexandria-based musicians and founders of the Yellow Door Concert Series.

The performance schedule is as follows:

• 2:15 p.m.-3 p.m. - Elena & Los Fulanos
• 3:15 p.m.-4 p.m. - Christylez Bacon & Nistha Raj: Bhairavi Beatbox
• 4:15 p.m.-5 p.m. - Feedel Band
• 5:15 p.m.-6:15 p.m. - Cissa Paz
• 6:45 p.m.-8 p.m. - Black Masala

The Port City Brewing Company will continue the waterfront beer garden on two additional weekends: June 28-30 and July 5-7. Each weekend promises different beers paired with food vendors. The June 28-30 weekend will feature Meggrolls, while the July 5-7 weekend will have Chadwicks barbecue on Friday and Saturday, Rocklands Barbecue on Saturday and Smoking Kow BBQ on Sunday. Dolci Gelati will be on site both weekends. Aside from food and drink, the beer garden will offer lawn games, live music and DJs.
