Post-Photography: Beyond the Print at Target Gallery
New Exhibition in the Torpedo Factory Art Center Examines New Frontiers in Contemporary Photography October 25 – November 30

In a new Target Gallery exhibition, 15 artists experiment with alternative applications of traditional photographic images through a variety of work in wood, glass, fabric, and other media. Post-Photography: Beyond the Print is on view Saturday, October 25, through Sunday, November 30, at the Torpedo Factory Art Center.
The bulk of the work included in this exhibition does not consist of traditional prints. The photographs becomes the source material these artists use to create a physical object or a narrative space in an image for the viewer to explore.
“In this age of social media, the bulk of the photographs we see will more likely momentarily exist to capture just enough of our attention to become the building blocks of our understanding of the world,” said Scott Hazard, juror for Post Photography. “Our physical realities compete with this vast constructed world that’s comprised more and more of other people’s images. Seeing photographs as artistic material rather than final product is a trend that’s traversing the fringes of contemporary photographic practices and it is an exciting vein to mine.”
