Power Outage Prompts Closures At 2 Alexandria Schools

After power outages from Sunday's thunderstorms, two Alexandria schools remain without power Monday.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Two schools in Alexandria have continued power outages Monday and are closed for in-person learning, Alexandria City Public Schools said.

Alexandria City High School's King Street Campus and Charles Barrett Elementary School have no power and are switching to virtual learning. Students were asked to log in to Canvas or Clever for their school assignments.

Widespread power outages happened in Alexandria and across the region amid severe thunderstorms Sunday. Dominion Energy's outage map continues to report outages at Alexandria City High School, Charles Barrett Elementary School and other parts of Alexandria.
