Report: Former Alexandria Sheriff's Deputy Sentenced for Having Sex with Inmate in Critical Care Mental Health Unit

Rape charge was dropped, NBC-4 reports; Bryant Pegues works out deal to cut time off sentence if he has no contact with victim, witnesses.

A former deputy for the City of Alexandria Sheriff’s Office pleaded guilty Thursday to having carnal knowledge of an inmate, according to a report by NBC-4.

The former deputy, Bryant Pegues, was sentenced to five years in prison.

The TV station reports that Pegues’ sentence will see 2.5 years knocked off his sentence if he has no contact for three years with the victim and witnesses.

Pegues was supervising the Critical Care Mental Health Unit of the Alexandria Adult Detention Center when he entered the cell of the victim, touched her inappropriately and had sex with her in the cell, court documents state, NBC-4 reported.

Pegues, a resident of Oxon Hill was hired in 2007; he was arrested by Alexandria detectives at the Sheriff’s Office.
