Report: Periwinkle, Women's Clothing Boutiques, to Close

Stores are morphing into a new business, the pink armoire, a fashion boutique on wheels offering "the look" for less. Check it out Friday.

The two locations of Periwinkle, a women’s clothing boutique, are set to close, according to a recent report in ARLNow.

The clothing store is closing its Alexandria store in Potomac Greens this month and its Shirlington Village store in Arlington sometime before the end of the year, according to the story.

The owner cited increasing rents in Shirlington as the reason for deciding to leave that location, where it’s been since 2010. The business started out nine years ago at the Alexandria location.

Meanwhile, fashionistas can still get their fashion fix by visiting a Periwinkle “sister” store going mobile. The Pink Armoire, a fashion boutique on wheels, will debut in Shirlington Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The business promises to deliver “The Look” for less.

Periwinkle noted on its Facebook page Monday that it has store furnishings for sale with posts: “Need retail fixtures?” and photos of storage trunks also for sale.
