Fatal Shooting Of Alexandria Man In DC Investigated: Police
D.C. Police are asking the public's help in identifying the person or persons responsible for a Sunday night fatal shooting in Shipley.
WASHINGTON, DC — Homicide detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department are investigating the fatal shooting of an Alexandria man that occurred Sunday night in the Shipley area of the city, according to a police release.
Around 11:30 p.m., officers from the Seventh District were dispatched to the 3400 block of Stanton Road, S.E., for the report of a man down. They found an adult male, unconscious and unresponsive, who was suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. D.C. Fire and EMS determined the victim showed no signs of life. He was later transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
MPD identified the decedent as Rayfone Gassaway, 37, of Alexandria, Virginia.
