Safeway Completes Renovations On Old Town Alexandria Store
Safeway will donate to The Campagna Center and ALIVE! to mark the ribbon cutting.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—The Safeway store has finished renovations on its Old Town Alexandria store at 500 South Royal Street. It will unveil the renovated store on Friday, May 3 at 10 a.m.
Alexandria Vice Mayor Elizabeth Bennett-Park and Councilmembers Canek Aguirre and Amy Jackson are expected to join Safeway for a ribbon cutting. All are invited to the event, which include live music from the New Line Brass Band, refreshments and free gifts. As part of the ribbon cutting, Safeway will donate to The Campagna Center and ALIVE!
"We are pleased to share renovations throughout the store that enhance our customers’ shopping experience," said Tom Lofland, president of Safeway’s eastern division, in a statement. "We have added new features that greatly expand our selections. Our Old Town customers will surely enjoy the newly renovated store."

The store has completely replaced produce fixtures, frozen food cases and a new beer cooler for a larger assortment of beers. A new case for fine wines has been added.
With the renovations come expanded selection at the store. The deli got a selection of specialty cheeses, dips, salsa and hummus, as well as prepared meals, sandwiches, salads and hot foods. The meat department is offering an increased selection of organic, grass-fed and natural products. Other new offerings vary in the general merchandise and health and beauty care categories.

The store is open from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
