Scottish Christmas Walk Parade, Weekend 2018: See Full Schedule

If it doesn't feel like the holiday season yet, you'll certainly change your mind this upcoming weekend. The Campagna Center's 48th annual Scottish Christmas Walk Weekend and Parade will be held Friday, Nov. 30 to Saturday, Dec. 1, followed by the evening Holiday Boat Parade of Lights in Old Town and holiday kick-off in Del Ray. Thousands are expected to turn out for the weekend of festivities, which celebrates Alexandria's Scottish roots.

Here is a guide to the parade and other events:

Friday, Nov. 30

Taste of Scotland

Taste a variety of Scotches direct from Scotland distilleries, Scottish ale sampling, as well as beer, wine and food. Tickets are $180-$290. The event is at The Atrium Building, 277 South Washington Street.

Heather and Greens Sale

Shop for wreaths, garlands, and fresh heather bundles to deck out your homes for the holiday season. The sale will be held at The Campagna Center, 418 South Washington Street from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Saturday, Dec. 1

Scottish Christmas Walk Parade

The largest of the events is the Scottish Christmas Walk Parade, held at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Spectators will be delighted by Scottish bagpipes, dancers, dogs, Santa Claus and more. The parade starts on St. Asaph Street at Wolfe Street before turning at Queen Street and back toward King Street. It ends at Market Square with a band concert.

Holiday Home Tours

Stroll around Old Town to see eight Old Town homes and landmarks decorated for the holidays by interior designers and florists. Visitors may start their tours at any home. A map is available online. Tickets are $40 and can be purchased online or in-person. The tours run from 12:30 p.m.-4 p.m.

Heather and Greens Sale

Shop for wreaths, garlands, and fresh heather bundles to deck out your homes for the holiday season. The sale will be held at The Campagna Center, 418 South Washington Street from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

All events benefit The Campagna Center's programs serving thousands of Alexandria children and families.
